A studio that stayed small on purpose.
The person in your kickoff call is the person drawing your screens.
This is everyone.
No account layer and no bench. The people in this photograph are the people who will be on your project.
We got tired of watching good design die in the handoff.
Tagthose started because of a pattern we kept seeing from the inside: a studio produces a beautiful design file, presents it, invoices, and leaves. Six months later the live product looks nothing like it. Everyone blames engineering. Usually it was never buildable in the first place.
So we built the studio around the gap. Our engineers sit beside our designers. Research happens before anyone opens a design tool. And we stay on after launch to test what we made against real behaviour, because that is the only point at which anyone finds out whether it worked.
Ten years and a hundred and fifty products later, that is still the entire model. It is not complicated. It is just unusual.
Five positions we hold, including the inconvenient ones.
Every studio claims to be user-centred. These are the specific, arguable things we actually do differently.
Research is not optional
Even a compressed week changes what gets built. We have never run a project where talking to users first turned out to be a waste of the budget.
Designers should ship code
Not all of it. But when the people drawing screens also commit front-end, the gap between the file and the product stops existing.
Boring states deserve attention
Empty, error, loading, offline, no-permission. Users spend more time in these than in the happy path your competitor screenshots for their homepage.
Accessibility is not a phase
Contrast, focus order, keyboard paths and labels are decided while designing. Retrofitting them after launch costs several times more and works less well.
We will tell you when we disagree
If a requested feature will hurt your users, you will hear it with reasoning attached. You are the client and it remains your decision — but you will have heard the argument.
Want the longer version?
Most of this is easier to judge from the work than from a values list.

Four clients, four different problems.
